The toilet that you have in your camper makes a big difference in the cost of repair, even if you do not realize it. Some campers think that repairing a toilet is cheaper than replacing it. If you are the "Do it yourself" type camper that may be true, however this article will help to educate the rest of us in order for you to make a well informed decision.

The water bill arrives and the consumption is higher than normal. In looking at the bill you realize it's winter time, your water consumption is down, but the bill says it is up as if its summer when your water consumption is higher. Then it hits you new toilet a water leak! At some point almost all homeowners run into this problem.

There are two, one on each side of the toilet, closet bolts which hold the toilet to the floor. If there are caps over the bolts, remove or pop them open. Using a small crescent wrench unscrew the nuts from the bolts. Alternate side to side when unscrewing this will be much more important when reinstalling the water line repair bolts but alternate anyhow.

Here are some general cautions. Do not begin jobs on holidays, weekends, or at times when plumbers raise their rates or are difficult to reach. Do start early leaving plenty of daylight to call a plumber if something goes wrong. Study the situation carefully. Think about what might happen if something suddenly broke and what the effects would be. Old corroded copper tubing might break in the wall when you are wrenching an angle stop that supplies the water line repair to your toilet. A flood in the wall could be costly. If the angle stop, on the other hand, is new and shuts off easily and you have another toilet in the house then it might make sense to repair the toilet yourself. Be honest, too. Are you handy with tools? Did you do well in shop classes in school?

For a newly installed icemaker, you will need up to 24 hours to let the machine function and cool down. A newly installed icemaker may not work until the ice mold temperature has dropped to about 15F - 16F degrees. If you have just added a water line to the refrigerator, it may take up to about an hour and a half for the machine to start working. Also, a newly installed water line may have air in the line. It can sometimes take a few ice making cycles to clear the line of air.

Sometimes there can be complications of broken toilet flanges, closet bolts or rotted sub-flooring. If you find any of that in your situation, it will need to be repaired before reinstalling the toilet.
